How to Edit an Object

When you select an object in Planner 5D, additional controls appear for editing and managing it. The available controls and their location depend on the platform and the type of object you select.

In this article, we’ll learn about the Object Menu in the Editor and the options available when you select an object while working on a project.


Web

Click an object to select it and display its controls.

The selected object is surrounded by a selection box, with the available actions displayed above it. The menu shown in the Web documentation includes controls for:

  • Style — open the object's material and appearance options. You can customize your textures: See: How to upload a custom texture

  • Duplicate — create a copy of the selected object.

  • Favorite — add the object to your favorites.

  • Center — centers the view in the Editor

  • Flip Horizontally — flips the item horizontally

  • Flip Vertically — flips the item vertically

  • Delete — remove the selected object.

  • Rotate — rotate the item

  • Hold and drag up/down — changes the levitation of an item. To use this option, switch to 3D view.

Note: When adding doors, you have the option to open or close them. To do so, switch to 3D view.


Android

Tap an object to select it. The available controls appear around the selected object and in the upper menu.

Controls around the object

Use the controls around the selected object to:

  • Drag a circular point to change the object's size.

  • Use the rotation control to rotate the object.

  • Use the resize control to change the object's size while maintaining its proportions.

Upper menu

The upper menu provides controls to:

  • Open the object's settings for textures, dimensions, rotation, and elevation.

  • Create an exact copy of the object.

  • Flip the object vertically.

  • Flip the object horizontally.

  • Delete the object.

  • In 3D view, you can adjust the levitation of an item and open or close doors.


iOS

When you select an object in a Planner 5D project on iOS, controls appear around the object and a menu appears above it. You can use these controls to move, resize, rotate, duplicate, flip, edit, select multiple items, or delete the selected object.

Once the item is selected:

  • A green frame appears around the object.

  • Control points appear around the selection.

  • A rotation control appears with the selected object.

  • The object menu appears above the selection.

Tap and drag the selected object to move it to another position on the plan.


Object menu

The menu above the selected object provides quick access to the main editing actions.

It includes:

  • Edit — open the editing panel for the selected object.

  • Duplicate — create a copy of the selected object.

  • Flip Horizontal — flip the object horizontally.

  • Flip Vertical — flip the object vertically.

  • Select Multiple Items — select more than one item on the plan.

  • Delete — remove the selected object.

All options don't fit in the visible menu, use the arrow on the right to access the additional actions.


Resize an object

The control points around the selected object can be used to change its size directly on the plan.

  1. Select the object.

  2. Hold one of the control points around the green selection frame.

  3. Drag the point to resize the object.

  4. Release it when the object reaches the size you want.

The selection frame changes together with the object as you resize it.


Rotate an object

The circular rotation control lets you rotate the selected object directly on the plan.

  1. Select the object.

  2. Hold the rotation control.

  3. Drag it around the object.

  4. Continue dragging until the object reaches the angle you want.

  5. Release the control to keep the new position.

The object rotates inside its selection frame as you move the control.


Edit an object

Select Edit from the object menu to open the editing panel at the bottom of the screen.

The panel contains two tabs:

  • Style: access the available appearance settings for the selected object.

  • Size: adjust the object's dimensions, position above the floor, and rotation using exact values.

    • Height

    • Width

    • Depth

    • Above the floor

    • Rotate

The available settings depend on the object you've selected.

For Height, Width, Depth, and Above the floor, you can:

  • Enter a value directly.

  • Select to decrease the value.

  • Select + to increase the value.

For Rotate, you can:

  • Drag the slider to rotate the object.

  • Enter the rotation value directly.

Changes made in the Size panel are reflected on the selected object on the plan.


Change the object's position above the floor

Use Above the floor in the Size tab to change the object's vertical position.

  1. Select the object.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Open Size.

  4. Find Above the floor.

  5. Enter a value or use and + to adjust it.

You can switch to 3D to see the object's position in relation to the floor and other objects.


Edit an object in 3D

The selected-object controls are also available while viewing the project in 3D.

You can select the object and use Edit to open the same Style and Size options. This lets you adjust values such as Above the floor and Rotate while viewing the result in 3D.

Select multiple items

Use Select Multiple Items when you want to work with more than one object.

  1. Select an object.

  2. Open the additional actions in the object menu.

  3. Select Select Multiple Items.

  4. Select the additional items you want to include.

Duplicate an object

Select Duplicate to create a copy of the selected object.

Flip an object

Use the object menu to change the orientation of the selected object:

  • Flip Horizontal — flips the object horizontally.

  • Flip Vertical — flips the object vertically.

Delete an object

Select Delete from the object menu to remove the selected object from the project.


macOS

Select an object in your macOS project to display its editing controls. You can move, resize, rotate, change its style and size, duplicate, flip, or delete the selected object.

Object controls

After you select an object:

  • Drag the object to move it.

  • Drag the control points around the object to resize it.

  • Drag the circular control to rotate it.

  • Use the menu above the object to access its main actions.


Object menu

The available actions include:

  • Style — open the object's appearance options in the panel on the right.

  • Duplicate — create a copy of the object.

  • Delete — remove the object.

  • Flip Vertical — flip the object vertically.

  • Flip Horizontal — flip the object horizontally.

The available actions depend on the type of object selected.


Edit an object

Select Edit in the upper-right corner to open the editing panel. You can also select an object and open its editing options from the menu displayed above it.

For furniture and other objects, the panel includes Style and Size:

  • Style — change the available materials or colors and flip, duplicate, or delete the object.

  • Size — adjust Height, Width, Depth, and Above the floor. Some settings may not be available for every object type.


Windows

Select a furniture item in your Windows project to access its editing controls. You can change its style and dimensions, rotate or flip it, duplicate it, add it to Favorites, or delete it.


Select a furniture item

  1. Open your project.

  2. Select the furniture item you want to edit.

  3. The available controls appear around the selected item, and the Furniture settings panel opens on the right.


Use the furniture controls

After selecting an item, you can use the controls around it to:

  • Style — change the item's appearance.

  • Duplicate — create a copy of the selected item.

  • Favorite — add the item to your Favorites.

  • Delete — remove the item from the project.

  • Flip horizontally — flip the item from side to side.

  • Flip vertically — flip the item from top to bottom.

  • Rotate — change the item's angle.


Change furniture dimensions

Use the Furniture settings panel on the right to enter exact values for:

  • Height

  • Width

  • Depth

Turn on Maintain aspect ratio if you want the item's proportions to remain the same when changing its dimensions.


Change the angle

Use Angle in the Furniture settings panel to enter the rotation angle of the selected item.

You can also use the Rotate control directly on the plan to rotate the item manually.


Change the levitation

Use Levitation in the Furniture settings panel to change the item's position above the floor.
