Keyboard shortcuts and navigation controls (Web)

Learn how to navigate your projects, adjust the camera, and use keyboard shortcuts in Planner 5D's Web editor.

These controls will help you work more efficiently in both 2D and 3D modes.

Navigating in 2D Mode

In 2D Mode, you can move around your floor plan, zoom in on specific areas, and quickly copy or paste objects.

Mouse and keyboard controls:

  • Move around the floor plan: Hold the right mouse button and drag, or use the W / A / S / D keys.

  • Zoom in or out: Scroll the mouse wheel to adjust your view.

  • Copy and paste objects: Use Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V (Windows) or Cmd + C / Cmd + V (Mac).

These shortcuts make it easier to navigate larger projects and edit your designs without constantly switching between tools.

Navigating in 3D Mode

In 3D Mode, you can explore your design from different angles, move around the space, and adjust the camera to get a more realistic perspective.

Mouse controls:

  • Rotate the view: Hold the left mouse button and drag to look around.

  • Move around: Hold the right mouse button and drag to reposition your view.

  • Zoom in or out: Scroll the mouse wheel to move closer to or farther away from your design.

Keyboard controls:

  • W / A / S / D: Move forward, left, backward, or right.

  • + / -: Raise or lower the camera.

  • Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V (Windows) or Cmd + C / Cmd + V (Mac): Copy and paste objects.

Adjusting the camera to eye level

Want to explore your design as if you were standing or sitting inside the room? You can adjust the camera to create a first-person perspective.

  1. Switch to 3D Mode.

  2. Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in until the camera moves closer to eye level.

  3. Hold the right mouse button and drag to reposition your viewpoint.

  4. Hold the left mouse button and drag to rotate the view and look around.

  5. Use the W / A / S / D keys to move through the space.

You can also adjust the camera's vertical position using the Height setting on the right-hand side of the editor. Use the arrows to increase or decrease the height as needed.

Tips for smoother navigation:

  • Zoom in gradually and use small movements to position the camera at a natural standing or seated height.

  • If movement feels too fast, use shorter key presses and smaller mouse movements.

  • Combine mouse and keyboard controls to fine-tune your viewing angle.
