A background image can be used as a reference when creating a project. After uploading an image and setting its scale, you can use it to draw walls and rooms with accurate dimensions.
Upload a background image
You can upload a background image in one of the following ways:
Select Upload background image in the header.
Or drag and drop an image into the editor.
Set the image scale
Planner 5D uses the entered measurement to calculate the scale of the image so that walls, rooms, and objects created from it have accurate dimensions.
Place the ruler along a known distance on the image.
Adjust the ruler length by dragging its ends.
Click Edit on the ruler label.
Enter the actual length of the selected distance.
Select the appropriate unit:

Click Confirm.
Click Next to add the image to the plan.
Manage a background image
When a background image is selected, the following options are available:
Option | Description |
Move to back | Displays the image below rooms on the plan. |
Move to front | Displays the image above rooms on the plan. |
Ruler | Measures distances and updates the image scale. |
Transparency | Adjusts the transparency of the image. |
Lock | Prevents the image from being moved or modified. |
Delete | Removes the image from the plan. |
Crop | Removes unnecessary parts of the image. |

Lock a background image
When an image is locked, it cannot be moved or modified and its menu is unavailable.
Select the background image.
Click Lock.
Unlock a background image
After the image is unlocked, all actions become available again.
Open the Upload background image menu in the header.
Click Unlock image.
Find a background image
The image is highlighted with a green frame and centered on the screen.
Select Background image in the header.
Click Find my image.
Delete a background image
Select the background image.
Open the Background image menu in the header.
Click Delete.
📌Only unlocked background images can be deleted.
