Want to see a beautiful garden, ocean, mountains, or city skyline through your windows in Planner 5D?
You can create your own outdoor views using objects, landscape materials, or custom images. Whether you're designing a room overlooking the sea or simply want a greener view, there are several ways to achieve the effect.
Let's explore four ways to create a view outside your window!
(Written instructions are below)
Method 1. Create a garden view with trees and plants
If you want to see a garden through your windows, you can add trees, bushes, and flowers outside your house.
This is a great option if you want the scenery to look natural from different angles.
Step 1. Prepare your project
Open your project and switch to 3D mode.
Find the window where you want the garden view to appear.
Go to Settings → Project → Background.
Choose a suitable background, such as a green ground option, if available.
This will help create a natural-looking environment around your house.
For more information, see How to Change the Background Color.
Step 2. Add trees and plants
Switch to 2D mode.
Open Exterior → Trees and plants.
Choose trees, bushes, or flowers from the catalog.
Place them outside the house, near the window.
Adjust their size and position to create the desired view.
Try placing smaller plants closer to the window and taller trees farther away to add depth.
Step 3. Check the view
Switch back to 3D mode and look through the window from inside your room.
Move or resize the plants until you're happy with the view.
Tip: Don't place plants too close to the building, as branches may appear to pass through the walls or windows.
Method 2. Create an ocean or beach view
Want your room to overlook the sea? You can create a simple seaside landscape using outdoor surfaces and different materials.
Step 1. Create the beach
Open your project and switch to 2D mode.
Go to Exterior → Paths and lawns.
Choose a suitable ground surface and place it outside your house.
Resize it to cover the area you want to use as a beach.
Select the surface and open the Materials menu using the paint roller icon.
Apply a sand-like texture or color.
Step 2. Add the ocean
Add another ground surface from the same catalog section.
Place it farther away from the house, beyond the beach.
Resize it to create a large water area.
Apply a water-like material or texture.
Position the beach and ocean surfaces so their edges meet.
If you want a specific water appearance, you can also upload a custom texture.
For instructions, see How to Upload a Custom Texture.
Step 3. Adjust the view
Switch to 3D mode and look through your window.
Make sure the beach and ocean cover the entire visible area without unwanted gaps.
You can also try a light blue background to create the appearance of an open sky.
Tip: Extend the landscape surfaces beyond the window's visible area so their edges don't appear in your final render.
Method 3. Add a landscape photo using a painting
Have a particular view in mind, such as a mountain landscape, city skyline, or famous destination?
You can use a painting object as a backdrop outside your window.
This is one of the easiest ways to create a specific photographic view.
Step 1. Add a painting
Open your project and switch to 2D mode.
Go to Interior → Decor → Paintings.
Choose a suitable painting.
Place it outside the window, with the picture facing toward the room.
Resize it so the picture is larger than the window opening.
Step 2. Add your landscape image
Select the painting.
Open the Materials menu using the paint roller icon.
Select the picture surface.
Open Personal to upload your own image.
Adjust the image scale and rotation if needed.
For a detailed explanation of customizing paintings, see How to Place a Logo on the Wall. The same image customization technique can be used with landscape pictures.
Step 3. Position your backdrop
Switch to 3D mode and look through the window.
Move the painting until the landscape fills the entire window opening.
Adjust its height and size so the horizon or main subject appears in the correct position.
Tip: Make sure the painting frame is not visible through the window. If necessary, enlarge the painting or move it farther away.
Important: This creates a flat photographic background. It works best when you plan to view or render the room from a particular camera angle.
Method 4. Apply a landscape image to curtains
Another creative option is to apply a landscape image directly to the fabric of your curtains.
This is useful for creating a decorative visual effect without placing additional objects outside the window.
Step 1. Add curtains
Open Interior and find a suitable curtain model.
Place the curtains on your window.
Adjust their size and position.
Choose curtains with a relatively flat fabric surface for the best result.
Step 2. Apply your landscape image
Select the curtains.
Open the Materials menu.
Select the fabric section you want to customize.
Apply your preferred landscape texture or upload a custom image.
Adjust the texture scale and rotation until the image appears correctly.
Important: Not every curtain model supports custom textures. If the material cannot be changed, try another curtain model or use the painting method described above.
Step 3. Check the result
Switch to 3D mode and look at the curtains from inside the room.
If the image looks stretched or repeats too frequently, adjust the texture scale or try a different curtain model.
Remember that the image will follow the curtain's folds. This method creates a decorative effect on the fabric rather than a real outdoor view.
Check your final view with a render
Once you've created your outdoor scenery, you can check how it looks in a realistic render.
Switch to 3D mode and position the camera inside the room.
Make sure the window and your new outdoor scenery are visible.
Open the Camera / Render menu.
Choose Draft to preview the result.
Adjust your scenery, lighting, or camera position if needed.
When you're happy with the result, select your preferred render quality and create the final image.
For more information, see How to Create Renders on Web.
Tip: Always check the view from the intended camera position before creating a high-quality render. A scene that looks correct in 2D may need a few adjustments in 3D.
Which method should you choose?
Each technique works best for a different purpose.
Garden with trees and plants: Best for creating a natural outdoor space that looks good from multiple angles.
Beach and ocean surfaces: Best for creating a simple seaside environment.
Landscape image on a painting: Best for displaying a specific photograph, city, or mountain view.
Landscape image on curtains: Best for creating a decorative fabric effect.
You can also combine several methods, such as placing real plants outside the window with a distant photographic landscape behind them.
