How to Design a Facade (Android)

Want your house to look just as great from the outside as it does inside?

Updated this week

Your facade is the exterior look of your home, everything you see from the outside, like the walls, windows, doors, materials, roof, and outdoor details. In Planner 5D on Android, you can design it step by step and instantly preview how it looks in 3D.

Whether you’re going for modern, cozy, classic, or something bold this is where your house gets its personality.

Step 1: Build the house shape (2D)

Start by creating the basic structure — your facade will follow this outline.

  1. Open your project and switch to 2D view.

  2. Use Rooms or Walls to create the shape of the house.

  3. Adjust wall lengths and layout until the exterior outline looks right.

Tip: If you’re planning a terrace, balcony, or entrance zone, it’s easier to include space for it now.

Step 2: Add doors and windows

Doors and windows make the biggest difference in how a facade feels — they create symmetry, balance, and style.

  1. Open Construction.

  2. Select Doors or Windows.

  3. Tap to place them on your exterior walls.

  4. Move and adjust them until everything feels aligned.

Tip:
Try placing windows at similar heights and spacing them evenly, it instantly makes the facade look more “architectural.”

Step 3: Choose exterior wall materials (3D)

Now it’s time for the fun part, textures and finishes.

  1. Switch to 3D view.

  2. Tap an exterior wall to select it.

  3. Open Wall materials / Finishes.

  4. Choose a material (brick, paint, stone, wood, etc.) and apply it.

Tip:
Mixing two materials (for example, stone on the lower part and paint above) can make the facade look more realistic and premium.

Step 4: Add a roof (optional, but highly recommended)

A roof completely changes your exterior style and makes the design feel finished.

  1. Open Construction.

  2. Select Roof.

  3. Choose a roof style and adjust it to fit the house.

Tip:
Try matching the roof color to your facade palette, even small changes in tone can make the whole house feel more cohesive.

Step 5: Add exterior details and landscaping

To make the facade feel truly “complete,” add finishing touches like:

  • exterior lighting

  • stairs / porch elements

  • columns

  • fences and gates

  • paths and lawns

  • plants and outdoor furniture

Tip: Adding a path or lawn around the house helps it feel grounded and makes the facade stand out more in 3D.

Final tip: Walk around your house in 3D

Once you’re done, move around the home in 3D and look at it from different sides. This is the best way to spot if a window feels too high, the entrance needs more detail, or the wall materials don’t match.
