You can create a raised foundation in Planner 5D to elevate your house above ground level and add a visible base beneath its exterior walls.
This can be useful when designing houses with elevated entrances, raised ground floors, or visible concrete and stone foundations.
Video and written instructions can be found below:
Step 1: Create the Foundation
Open your project in Planner 5D and switch to 2D mode.
Open the Build menu and add a rectangular room.
Resize the room to match the footprint of your future house.
Select the room and adjust its Height to the desired foundation height, for example, 40 cm.
Switch to 3D mode to check the result.
You should now see a low rectangular structure that will serve as the foundation of your house.
Tip: You can use any foundation dimensions that suit your project. For example, start with a 500 × 700 cm footprint and a height of 40 cm.
Step 2: Add the Main House Above the Foundation
Now that the foundation is ready, you can create the main floor of your house.
Switch back to 2D mode.
Open the Floor Menu at the top of the editor.
Click Add New Floor.
Select the room on the newly created floor.
Resize and reposition it so its exterior walls align with the foundation below.
Adjust the room's Height to your preferred wall height, for example, 270 cm.
Switch to 3D mode to inspect the result.
Your house should now sit directly above the raised foundation.
Important: This method uses a separate floor for the foundation. The foundation is considered the first floor, while your main living space is on the floor above it.
Step 3: Customize the Foundation's Appearance
You can apply different materials to make your foundation match the design of your house.
Switch to the foundation floor.
Select one of the foundation's exterior walls.
Open the Style menu using the paint roller icon.
Select the Outdoor material area.
Choose your preferred material, such as concrete, stone, or brick.
Apply the same material to the remaining visible foundation walls.
Switch to 3D mode to check how the foundation looks beneath your house.
Step 4: Add Steps to the Entrance (Optional)
Since your house is now elevated above ground level, you may want to add steps leading to the entrance.
Switch to the main house floor and add an entrance door.
Open the catalog and select a suitable staircase or steps.
Position them outside the entrance.
Adjust their dimensions and elevation so the lower end reaches the ground and the upper end meets the entrance.
Check the alignment in 3D mode.
You can also apply matching materials to the steps and foundation for a consistent appearance.
Step 5: Check the Finished Foundation
Switch to 3D mode and inspect your house from different angles.
Make sure that:
The foundation is positioned directly beneath the house.
The exterior walls of both levels are properly aligned.
The foundation has the intended height.
There are no visible gaps between the foundation and the main floor.
The foundation materials are applied consistently.
Important: If your main house appears to float above the foundation, return to the lower floor and check the height of all rooms. The upper floor is positioned based on the highest point of the floor below, so an incorrectly configured room height can affect its placement.
