How to create a New Floor

You can add floors to your Planner 5D project and continue designing rooms on each new level. On Web, you can create up to six floors, while the Planner 5D apps support up to three floors.

Before You Start

If your project needs a staircase, decide where you want to place it before adding the next floor.

Add multiple floors to your project to design different levels. On Web, you can create up to six floors, while Planner 5D apps (iOS, Android, and macOS) support up to three floors.

Important: Projects with up to 6 floors can be created on the Web version. However, these floors will not sync with the apps, as they currently support a maximum of 3 floors.

  • The exception is the Windows app, where all 6 floors created on the Web will be displayed.

Web

You can add up to six floors to a project on Web.

To add a new floor:

  1. Open your project.

  2. Use the floor menu at the top of the plan.

  3. Click Add New Floor.

  4. A room is created on the new floor.

  5. The floor below is grayed out, and you can start placing rooms on the new floor.
Repeat these steps to add more floors, up to a total of six.

Important: Floors four through six are available on Web only and won't be available in the Planner 5D apps.

We've also prepared two short videos for you explaining how to create the second floor and add a staircase!

iOS

Planner 5D for iOS supports projects with up to three floors.

To add a new floor:

  1. Open your project.

  2. Tap the Layers icon in the menu on the right.

  3. Tap the plus (+) sign to add another floor.

  4. The floor below is grayed out, and you can start placing rooms on the new floor.

You can also select Edit to rename or reorder your floors.

Important: You can't add a fourth floor as a regular floor in the iOS app. Projects created with four or more floors on Web aren't supported beyond the app's three-floor limit.

Android

Planner 5D for Android supports projects with up to three floors.

To add a new floor:

  1. Decide where you want to place the staircase to the next floor and add it to your plan.

  2. Open the floor menu at the top.

  3. Tap Add New Floor.

  4. A room is created on the new floor.

  5. The floor below is grayed out, and you can start placing rooms on the new floor.

Important: You can't add a fourth floor as a regular floor in the Android app. Projects created with four or more floors on Web aren't supported beyond the app's three-floor limit.

macOS

Planner 5D for macOS supports projects with up to three floors.

To add a new floor:

  1. Decide where you want to place the staircase to the next floor and add it to your plan.

  2. Click the Layers icon in the upper menu.

  3. Select Manage floors.

  4. Click the plus (+) sign to add a new floor.

  5. The floor below is grayed out, and you can start placing rooms on the new floor.

From Manage floors, you can also rename and reorder existing floors.

Important: You can't add a fourth floor as a regular floor in the macOS app. Projects created with four or more floors on Web aren't supported beyond the app's three-floor limit.

Windows

To add a new floor:

  1. Open your project.

  2. Click the plus (+) sign above the floor selector in the bottom-right corner.

  3. Click Add floor.

  4. The new floor appears in the floor selector.

  5. Select the new floor.

  6. Open Rooms and add a room to start designing the new floor.

Use the numbered floor selector in the bottom-right corner to move between floors.

Need a fourth floor in an app?

If you need to create an additional level beyond the supported floors, you can use Magic Cube to create a platform that acts as an additional floor.

Planner 5D apps support up to three regular floors. If you need to represent an additional floor in an app, you can use a Magic Cube as a platform for the additional level.

This workaround doesn't add a fourth floor to the floor list. Instead, it uses one or more Magic Cubes to represent the additional level.

How to add the fourth floor

The approach for adding a fourth floor is more or less the same across all Planner 5D apps:

  1. Open the third floor and increase its wall height. For example, you can make the third floor twice as high as the previous floors.

  2. Switch to 2D view and add a Magic Cube. Adjust its dimensions to turn it into a flat platform that will serve as the floor of the additional level.

  3. Adjust the Magic Cube's vertical position to place it at the desired height. For example, if the third floor is 400 cm high, set the platform at 200 cm.

  4. Position the Magic Cube where you want the additional floor. You can use several Magic Cubes if you need a larger platform.

Platform differences

The process is the same, but the setting used to adjust the Magic Cube's vertical position has a different name depending on the platform:

  • Android: Use the Above parameter.

  • iOS: Use the Levitation parameter.

  • macOS: Use the Levitation parameter.

  • Windows: Use the Levitation parameter.

Android:

1. Start with extending the wall height of the third floor by clicking on it and editing measurements in the bottom menu. We've made the height of the third floor twice as the previous two.

2. Switch to a 2D view mode and drag a Magic Cube nearby. Edit its measurements as well to turn it into a flat board. Don't forget to set an "Above" parameter to a height of the fourth floor. Since we've made the third floor 400 cm high, it is 200 cm for us to set a Magic cube as a floor of the fourth one.

3. Now you can place an edited Cube or several of them as platforms for additional floors.

iOS:

1. Start with extending the wall height of the third floor by clicking on it and editing measurements in the bottom menu. We've made the third floor height twice as the previous two.

2. Switch to a 2D view mode and drag a Magic Cube nearby. Edit its measurements as well to turn it into a flat board. Don't forget to set a Levitation parameter to the height of the fourth floor. Since we've made the third floor 400 cm high, it is 200 cm for us to set a Magic cube as a floor of the fourth one.

3. Now, you can place an edited Cube or several of them as platforms for additional floors.

MacOS:

Windows:

  1. Begin by launching your project and navigating to the third floor. Click on the floor to select it, and then extend its wall height from the menu. For this example, we've made the third floor twice as high as the previous two.

  2. Next, switch to 2D view mode and drag a 'Magic Cube' onto the plan. Adjust its dimensions to resemble a flat board.

Importantly, set the 'Levitation' parameter to match the height of your additional floor. If you've set your third floor to be 400 cm high and you want the fourth floor to be at the same level, set the 'Levitation' parameter to 200 cm.

  3. Finally, place your edited 'Magic Cube' (or several, if necessary) to serve as the platform for your additional floor(s). They will create the illusion of an extra level in your building.

That's it! You've now expanded the capabilities of Planner 5D to create a multi-story building that exceeds the standard three floors. Continue with your interior design project by adding rooms, furniture, and other architectural elements.
